In the heart of the loess plateau, where gullies run deep, greytone hybrid wind towers stand tall, writing the legend of green energy.
Project Location
This project is located in Shunning Town, Zhidan County, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province, situated in the heart of the loess plateau. The region primarily features a rugged mountainous terrain with complex gully systems, presenting harsh geographic conditions.
Capacity Configuration
The total installed capacity is 100MW, with a total of 20 wind turbines each having a capacity of 5MW. The turbines utilize FL RENEWABLES's steel-UHPC hybrid tower technology, with the hybrid tower section reaching a height of 121.4 meters and a concrete strength of 150MPa. The base diameter of the hybrid tower is only 6.6 meters, overcoming transportation and installation constraints in mountainous areas and being adaptable to all terrains.
Project Benefits
The annual on-grid electricity for this project can reach 202.184 million kWh, with an equivalent full-load operation of about 2021 hours per year. Annually, it can save approximately 63,300 tons of standard coal, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 172,800 tons, sulfur dioxide by 33.24 tons, and nitrogen oxides by 37.19 tons, aiding in the region's green and low-carbon transformation.
FL RENEWABLES uses UHPC materials to provide multiple guarantees for tower applications in complex mountainous environments:
Extreme Bearing Capacity: With a concrete strength of 150MPa, the tower meets the dynamic load requirements of 5MW large-capacity turbines in steep terrains;
Small Footprint: With the base diameter of segments being only 6.6 meters, it overcomes transportation and installation bottlenecks in narrow mountainous roads while ensuring structural rigidity.
Reduced Maintenance Costs: The low permeability and anti-corrosion properties of UHPC ensure that the towers can operate stably even in the low-temperature climate of the northern Shaanxi mountains during winter.
The successful application of ultra-high-performance concrete towers in the Zhidan project provides a practical example for wind power development in China's complex terrains, promoting the efficient use of resources in low-wind-speed areas.
In the future, more Chinese hybrid towers will stand tall around the world!
